Perth's Jedediah were one of the defining Australian acts bringing indie rock to the masses from the late 90s. Now returning to the fray after a decade-long layoff, OIKS is Jebediah's first release in more than a decade, with a sleek modern update on their trademark fuzzy pop anthems. it. Their return just got even sweeter, with bassist Ness and taking us through some of her favourite local tracks she found on amrap.org.au.

This is by a local Boorloo (Perth) band. I don't really know that much about them other than I first heard a song of theirs maybe about a year or so ago, and I absolutely loved it. It's got a real kind of 70s vibe, almost like Crosby Stills, Nash and Young, or The Byrds, you know? They just sound like the summer breeze, this band, like driving on the coast with your windows wound down and good times.
I think [Carla] started releasing music maybe five or six years ago, I've absolutely loved everything I've heard. I find her voice so emotive and I think she writes really great lyrics and she's also a really great guitarist. If you're not familiar with her work I highly recommend checking out her earlier releases as well, you won't be disappointed.
It's an absolutely cracking tune. Peter Bibby, he's so bloody great, I love him!
I've seen these guys and girls quite a few times and I think they're really great. I actually didn't even know they had a new song out, so thanks AMRAP! See, this is why all the Aussies band should get their songs onto amrap.org.au. King Ibis, really great band, and I think that out of all their really great songs this new one might be my favourite!
Yet another local Boorloo (Perth) act. I'm a big fan of this band, they have such good tunes. This one I've only heard a few times because it's pretty new. It puts me on an air mattress floating about on the river with dappled sunlight coming through the trees. Beautiful! Hope you enjoy.
