I'll tell you who is great, it's our sister girl, Emily Wurramara. This is a beautiful track of hers, the newest one out. I just think she is an unreal songwriter. There's a lot of newer generation [artists] that are coming through the scenes, more particularly for Aboriginal women in the industry, holding it right down. I absolutely just admire Emily.
I think Australian music is bloody great after heraring this song! She's fresh. She's brand new and very young. I actually had the honour of seeing her sing this song live when I went up to Kings Park and was a part of Rockwiz tour.
There is no way that I can deny any music that comes from this band. It's the one and only band that reps mostly Arnhem Land, all of the NT and all of us in Australian music! What do yoiu think about when you're walking through the trees? There's something about looking out the window at all the trees and the bush when you're on the road and I think they absolutely nailed it on this track.
This is a new band made up of some guys who have been on the scene for a while. I've actually had the honour of touring, playing and even recording with some of these guys.
Look, this album (First Time Really Feeling) came out in 2020 but it is still very relevant to me today and I'm pretty sure that it's going to hold it down for myself as well for the next 20 to 40 years, but also hold it down for a lot of women in the Australian music industry. It's important to actually have women and songs like this. I get so emotional when I hear Liz's tunes. Honestly, it's just next level, it takes me to a whole other place.
This features on my newest album, Til My Song Is Done.
