"I found that the music here was my sanctuary."
Answered by: Magpie Johnston
Album title? Sanctuary
Where did the title of your new album come from? It was the last piece of the puzzle when finishing the album. I looked at all of the things and considered what it meant to me. I found that the music here was my sanctuary.
How many releases do you have now? This is our debut album, aside from The Introduction EP of 2015
How long did it take to write/record? Some of the songs are 10 years old, some are more recent. It's been a slow chip away process. Amongst all the other projects going on, it took us three years to record the album.
Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? Definitely inspired by a lot of music created in the '60s and '70s, alongside a desire to create my own flavour and vibe. It was a great experience to work with producer Matt Sherrod.
What's your favourite song on it? That's a difficult question, Beautiful Beetroot I'm quite fond of, mainly because it was recorded via late 3am jam with mates.
Will you do anything differently next time? Yep, I'll doublecheck the track listings before I print vinyl and I'll also avoid putting diesel in the petrol engine...
When and where is your launch/next gigs? We've got 23 dates throughout Jan-Feb, all capitals with a bunch of regionals. Please check it all out and come have a beer and a roll with us!
