With a huge chorus, catchy synth and guitar riffs, it is hard not to feel like you are dancing around, drenched in the sunshine – even if it is pouring with rain and zero degrees outside.
What saves the album from becoming a forgettable one is the clever, inquisitive arrangements and confidence the band exudes when dealing with established styles and a nostalgic sonic palette.
While offering consistently pleasant and dreamy summer-tinged tunes, Smith Westerns will not blow minds with Soft Will, and could have afforded a few more risks in songwriting and arrangement.
We have Soft Will streaming long before its release.
